Building a Cheap Paint Booth

This is a cheap paint booth I build to do the spray painting in
my garage.
It works okay to exhaust fumes and dust. But due to the
weak exhausting power of the bathroom fan, some odor will still
leave around for 10 minutes or so. Just keep the fan running for
half an hour or so and odor will be all gone. I think it is still an
economical way to build a paint booth.
In the past, I need to wait for good weather to do spray painting
outdoor.
But sometimes it is quite windy or rainy and that prevents me from
doing that. With this booth, I can do it indoor safely. Of course,
you still need to wear a mask to avoid breathing toxic substance in.

This is a bathroom fan I got from Home Depot. It costs around $30.
It is 70 CFM and works quite quietly.

I used a big HP monitor box. Cut a square hole in the back and use
duct tape to secure the fan in the back. I also got a $7 3 in x 8 ft flexible exhaust duct from
Home Depot and it routes all the way from the fan to garage door. I just use a
extension cord to wire up the fan. Whenever I need to use it, I just
plug it in.

Then I used a filter and cover up the fan opening. Again I used duct
tape to secure it. The filter costs about 60 cents at Home Depot.

That's me painting something. Always wear a mask. I got this mask at PepBoys for $20 and it works quite good. :) So the total cost to build paint booth: $30 (fan) + $7 (flexible duct) + $.6 (filter) + $2 (power plug) = $39.6 + tax :):).
